Canada Wonderland Forced to Call Gay-Day a Night

July 26, 2016

Canada’s Wonderland in Ontario is popular for its family hospitality, rides and special events including Gay Day – now in its eight successful year.  This year Waiting excitedly in line for the Lazy River ride one customer, Barrett gave his partner Brandon a warm hug.

An eagle-eyed park employee spotted the hug and warned the couple to ‘monitor their behaviour’. Wonderland’s  general manager Norm Pir tov shek apologised for the employee’s actions  pointing out Wonderland staff were aware of human rights.    As management couldn’t find the park employee amongst the park’s 4,000 strong team – he was not disciplined.

Barrett and Brandon were said to be very upset.“All we were doing were hugging, explained Barrett.

“It’s not like we had our hands down each other’s pants.  The magic that was supposed to happen at Canada’s Wonderland was lost to us. The day was stained.”

Gay Day’s sponsor for the last eight years ‘PF-LAG wanted to offer Wonderland diversity training. Despite several attempts the sponso  didn’t hear back from the park’s manager.
